Ogilvie Welcomes Articling Students Jenneka Bouchard and Reid Parker

Ogilvie is proud to introduce its newest articling students, Jenneka Bouchard and Reid Parker, both of whom bring diverse backgrounds and fresh perspectives to the firm. As they embark on this critical stage of their legal careers, Jenneka and Reid are eager to make meaningful contributions to Ogilvie collaborative and client-focused environment.

At Ogilvie, where the commitment to professional growth is matched by a strong sense of community and mentorship, Jenneka and Reid will gain hands-on experience while working alongside some of the industry's most respected lawyers. The firm is dedicated to nurturing young talent, and both Jenneka and Reid’s enthusiasm for the profession aligns perfectly with Ogilvie's values of integrity, client care, and community involvement.

Let’s get to know these two exceptional individuals and the paths that led them to join the Ogilvie team.

Jenneka Bouchard: A Global Perspective with Local Roots

Jenneka’s journey to Ogilvie spans continents and industries, shaped by a desire to help others and solve meaningful problems. Born in Edmonton and raised in Whitecourt, Alberta, Jenneka began her career in Kelowna, BC, where she earned a diploma in Psychology and Mental Health Counselling. She and her husband then ran two small businesses—a hot yoga studio and a boutique creperie/indoor playground—before she decided to further her education in business at Grant MacEwan University.

Eager for new challenges, Jenneka’s academic journey took her to Northern Ireland, where she completed her Master of Laws (LL.M) degree, specializing in business and human rights. She later moved to Queensland, Australia, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree. Despite falling in love with the Gold Coast, her strong desire to be close to family brought her back to Beaumont, Alberta. “My proudest accomplishment is my beautiful marriage and our three wild-hearted daughters,” Jenneka shares.

Jenneka was drawn to Ogilvie for its reputation of excellence, commitment to community involvement, and its wide range of practice areas. "The firm’s focus on integrity, mentorship, and building authentic client relationships strongly aligns with my values," she says. Jenneka is particularly excited to develop her skills in litigation and to learn from seasoned lawyers who are leaders in their fields.

For future law students, Jenneka’s advice centers on being proactive in learning and seeking opportunities that foster personal and professional growth. She emphasizes the importance of finding a firm that shares your values, invests in your development, and provides strong mentorship. She also highlights the life-changing benefits of travel, encouraging students to embrace it as a way to broaden their perspective and deepen their understanding of people, cultures, and legal systems in ways that go beyond classroom learning.

Reid Parker: Ready for Real-World Experience

Born and raised in Edmonton, Reid Parker’s path to Ogilvie began during career day at law school, where he connected with the firm and quickly realized it was the right fit. “Ogilvie threads the needle between being serious, dealing with important legal issues, and maintaining a fun office environment,” he explains.

After completing three years of law school, Reid is ready to apply his academic knowledge to real-world legal problems. “I’m most looking forward to taking what I’ve learned and putting it into practice,” he says, eager to dive into the dynamic challenges of the articling experience.

For Reid, the key to success lies in pacing yourself and building strong, sustainable habits. “The legal journey is a marathon, not a sprint. Take care of yourself and develop habits that support your success, both personally and professionally” he shares.

A New Chapter Begins

Ogilvie is excited to have Jenneka and Reid join the team as articling students. Both bring passion, dedication, and a diverse range of experiences to the firm. Their unique perspectives and commitment to learning will undoubtedly make them valuable contributors as they embark on the next steps of their legal careers.
